Abstract(s)
Introdução
A pandemia COVID-19 revelou-se um fator que veio potenciar a solidão e o isolamento das pessoas idosas, em particular as que se encontram institucionalizadas. Neste sentido, procurou-se identificar estratégias que ajudem a gerir as emoções, neste contexto tão adverso, recorrendo às TIC como meio para promover o bem-estar e a qualidade de vida, no âmbito do projeto Voluntariado virtual.
Objetivo
Recolher dados sobre os sentimentos e emoções vividos durante a pandemia e as estratégias utilizadas pelos idosos.
Partilhar estratégias facilitadoras da gestão de emoções.
Metodologia
Realizou-se um estudo descritivo, com recurso à entrevista semiestruturada a 14 idosos, procurando identificar os sentimentos e emoções vividos e as estratégias utilizadas na gestão dos mesmos. Em seguida procedeu-se à análise de conteúdo da informação obtida.
A atividade culminou com uma sessão de apresentação dos resultados, com a participação de dois Professores da área da saúde mental que fizeram uma reflexão sobre os mesmos.
Resultados
De acordo com a análise de conteúdo realizada identificaram-se ao nível das emoções/sentimentos experienciados três categorias: expressões neutras, expressões negativas e expressões positivas. Relativamente às estratégias referidas pelos idosos para gerir as emoções foram identificadas seis categorias: “ver televisão”, “pintar e desenhar”, “praticar a religião”, “realizar videochamada com a família”, “participar no voluntariado da leitura e terço” e “recorrer aos profissionais da instituição”.
A reflexão produzida pelos Professores da área da saúde mental veio reforçar e fundamentar a importância das estratégias mobilizadas pelos idosos na gestão das emoções.
Comentários/Conclusões
A atividade embora tenha decorrido com recurso aos meios telemáticos permitiu a proximidade com os idosos, sendo possível aceder às suas vivências e partilhar uma reflexão sobre estratégias para gerir emoções em tempo de pandemia contribuindo desta forma para o bem-estar e qualidade de vida dos idosos.

Regarding the strategies mentioned by the elderly to manage emotions, six categories were identified: “watching television”, “painting and drawing”, “practicing religion”, “making video calls with the family”, “participating in the reading and rosary volunteering” and “resort to the professionals of the institution”. The reflection produced by the Professors in the field of mental health reinforced and substantiated the importance of the strategies mobilized by the elderly in the management of emotions. Comments/Conclusions Although the activity took place using telematic means, it allowed proximity to the elderly, making it possible to access their experiences and share a reflection on strategies to manage emotions in a pandemic time, thus contributing to the well-being and quality of life of the elderly. .
