Abstract(s)
A investigação baseada na prática requer interdisciplinaridade entre os vários domínios
científicos e bi-direcionalidade na comunicação entre sociedade e ciência. A pesquisa com base
na ação participativa e no envolvimento das comunidades são atuais paradigmas da investigação.
Macau é uma região urbana densamente povoada. As áreas verdes são escassas, o contacto das
crianças e da população em geral com a natureza, com a agricultura e com a produção de alimentos,
é praticamente inexistente.
O presente trabalho seguiu uma metodologia de estudo de caso e foi realizado com base na
realidade da Escola Portuguesa de Macau, Região Administrativa Especial de Macau. De modo a
conhecer as motivações e ideias da comunidade escolar, relativamente a um potencial projeto de
agricultura urbana na escola, efetuou-se um questionário a 177 estudantes, com idades entre 6 e
15 anos, e a 23 professores.
Deste modo, a presente tese de mestrado com tema "Agricultura Urbana no contexto
educativo: a horta escolar na Escola Portuguesa de Macau" integra agricultura urbana, produção
de alimentos, educação e consciencialização ambiental.

Research based on participatory action and community involvement are today's paradigms of research. Macau is a densely populated urban region. Green areas are scarce, the contact of children and general population with nature, agriculture and food production is practically non-existent. The present work followed a methodology of case study and was carried out based on the reality of the Portuguese School of Macao, Special Administrative Region of Macao.
