Abstract(s)

The family is an important educational agent, the child's first educator, as it is within the family that the first learnings take place. In Portugal, DL nº 54/2018, amended by Law nº 116/2016, establishes the principles and rules that guarantee inclusion, as a process to respond to the diversity of needs, potentialities and expectations of each and every student, promoting participation and the sense of belonging in real conditions of equity. The work aimed to understand the importance of family collaboration for the inclusion of their students in E@D, resulting from the closure of schools in march 2020 as a measure to contain the COVID-19. The questionnaires prepared on Google Forms were sent online, to Teachers of Basic and / or Secondary Education and to Parents, with children attending Basic and / or Secondary Education. The collection of information was based on the survey technique, through the application of questionnaires and involved two samples: 55 Teachers of Basic and / or Secondary Education and 58 Caregivers with children attending Basic and / or Secondary Education, guaranteeing confidentiality and anonymity. The results pointed to a favorable perception by the respondents about the importance of the families' collaboration for the educational success of their students, at E@D, especially when it comes to younger students or those in need of special measures. In situations where families are not available to be involved in the teaching-learning process of their students, learning is compromised, making the family's collaboration an accelerating element of social inequalities.
