A presente dissertação é um estudo de caso onde procuramos, por um lado, analisar quais
os principais fatores que influenciam o insucesso e o abandono escolar no ensino básico de
Fulacunda na Guiné-Bissau, e por outro, avaliar o impacto ao nível da intervenção comunitária
da ONG Effective Intervention, no domínio da educação na mesma região, comparando-o com
as práticas e os resultados obtidos pela escola pública.
Em termos metodológicos, e de acordo com os nossos objetivos, as técnicas usadas
conjugam uma abordagem de pendor qualitativo com algumas técnicas quantitativas, por
forma a levar a cabo a análise documental, o inquérito por questionários e as entrevistas semi diretiva.
Da análise de alguns dos fatores que contribuem para o fracasso do ensino no país e a
intervenção feita no sentido de ultrapassar a situação, pretendemos dar algumas sugestões,
tanto a nível pedagógico como a nível social, que possam contribuir para combater o flagelo
do insucesso e abandono escolar na Guiné-Bissau.
This dissertation is a case study where we seek, on the one hand, to analyze which are the main factors that influence failure and school dropout in basic education in Fulacunda (Guinea Bissau), and on the other hand, to evaluate the impact at the level of community intervention of the NGO Effective Intervention, in the field of education in the same region, comparing it with the practices and results obtained by the public school. Regarding the methodology used, according to our objectives, the techniques combine a qualitative approach with some quantitative techniques, to carry out the documental analysis, the inquiry by questionnaires and the semi-directive interviews. From the analysis of some of the factors that contribute to the school unsuccess in the country and the intervention made to overcome the situation, we intend to give some suggestions, both at a pedagogical and social level, that may contribute to fight the indigence of failure and school dropout in Guinea-Bissau.
