Abstract(s)

This is a qualitative study, with the objective of understanding the role of the educator in the process of adaptation of children to preschool, understanding the importance of parents in this adaptation process and establishing some ways to facilitate the adaptation of children. It had the participation of three educators and 21 children, aged between three and six years. The data collection instruments used were direct observation, interviews and an activity carried out with the children. The results presented highlight the importance of educators adopting a broad and child-centred approach. This implies prioritizing flexibility, which requires knowledge about the individual needs of each child, promoting individualized work. In addition, the relevance of collaboration between the family and the school is highlighted, this partnership is essential to share information about the development and needs of children, enabling a more complete and effective approach to the educational process. Recognizing the importance of educators and families in adapting children to preschool, it is crucial to offer strategies to facilitate this transition. These strategies should be based on an approach focused on children's well-being at this early stage of learning.
