Abstract(s)
educativa.
identificar as deficiências existentes no processo educativo e, a partir daí, levar a escola a
estabelecer ações e atitudes capazes de transformar a realidade existente.

This important collegiate is foreseen in the regulations of Federal Institute of Brasília (IFB), being considered as a privileged space of discussion, reflection and deliberation on pedagogical questions of the class, with the intention of reorienting the educational practice. Based on this concept, the main objective of the research was to verify the effectiveness of the Class Councils in the subsequent technical courses of IFB. To actieve, this approach adopted was qualitative, having as research instruments: observation of Class Councils, semi-structured interviews, questionnaire application and documentary analysis. All the instruments chosen were primordial for the study carried out. Through the analysis and interpretation of data obtained it was possible to respond to the research objectives and, thus, to propose actions to improve the performance of the Class Councils, so that there are improvements in student learning and in the teacher’s pedagogical practice. The main theorists who underlied this research were: Carlos Cruz, Carlos Cipriano Luckesi, Heloísa Luck, and José Carlos Libâneo, besides research to legislations and internal resolutions. The results of the research demonstrated that for the Class Council to achieve its purpose it is necessary to have organization and prior planning, stimulation and valorization of active participation of all its members, especially the student, with the definition of roles and instruments of appropriate data collection, in order to contribute to the improvement of the teaching-learning process. The improvement of the teaching-learning process, as a result of the Class Council, will be the result of a collective work, of an intentional action capable of identifying the deficiencies existing in the educational process and, from there, lead the school to establish actions and attitudes capable of transforming the existing reality.
