Abstract(s)
The birth of a child is a highly significant existential event, marking a profound emotional transformation and generating a deep impact on family dynamics. This report aims to critically and reflectively describe and analyze the activities carried out during the internship in the delivery room. Emphasizing the complexity of labour and the influence of this process on each woman’s subjective experience, a Scoping Review was developed according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, guided by the following question: “What are the benefits of using hypnotherapy as a positive birth experience?” The analysis of the four articles, retrieved from the MEDLINE Complete, CINAHL Complete, Nursing & Allied Health Collection, Cochrane Controlled Trials, and MedicLatina databases, showed that hypnotherapy is an effective intervention in reducing the need for pharmacological analgesia, lowering anxiety and fear, and preventing complications during labour. In addition to strengthening the autonomy of the birthing woman and promoting a more positive birth experience, hypnotherapy empowers the Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health to act more effectively in managing low-risk births, thereby minimizing unnecessary interventions. It was concluded that the integration of hypnotherapy in the obstetric context brings significant benefits, contributing to the humanization of childbirth and the adoption of evidence-based practices that promote women's health
