do EMI-2p.
General Abstract This thesis focuses on the validation of tools for analysis of the reasons for the practice of physical exercise and it is divided in two studies with a logical continuation of organization among them. The first study focuses on the need for validation of the Exercise Motivation Invetory 2, which is drafting a Confirmatory Factor Analysis which aims to determine whether this questionnaire meets all the requirements for it to be applied in the Portuguese population. For this process could succeed was necessary to resort to the use of specific programs and specific advanced statistical procedures in a fairly large sample. Following the first study, the second study arises you want to make a reduction of EMI-2p. Since the instrument is valid, a new concern is the fact that these have a large number of items thus creates the need to select items factor weights within fourteen strongest factors, thereby making the original structure remains . This process was made possible through an exploratory factor analysis, so that one could draw the distribution of items by new factors, and a Confirmatory Factor Analysis, in order to confirm this new version. From these results it was possible to validate the measurement instrument for the Portuguese population as well as a reduced version of the EMI-2p
