Este estudo analisa a integração de estudantes internacionais no Politécnico de Santarém, com o objetivo de compreender as suas expectativas, dificuldades e perceções sobre o acolhimento institucional. A investigação contou com uma amostra de onze estudantes de diferentes países de língua portuguesa e utilizou uma metodologia mista que inclui questionários online e entrevistas semiestruturadas, permitindo uma análise quantitativa e qualitativa das experiências relatadas. Os resultados apontam para um apoio institucional inicial considerado positivo e uma relação próxima com os professores, mas destacam também desafios ligados às barreiras culturais e linguísticas, ao isolamento social e às dificuldades de acesso a recursos académicos. Conclui-se que a criação de programas de mentoria, iniciativas de diálogo intercultural e maior investimento em apoio social e académico podem reforçar a inclusão e promover uma experiência mais equilibrada no ensino superior.

The findings indicate that students perceive initial institutional support as positive and highlight close relationships with professors, but also reveal challenges related to cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and limited access to academic resources. The study concludes that implementing mentorship programs, fostering intercultural dialogue, and increasing investment in social and academic support can strengthen inclusion and promote a more balanced higher education experience.
