Abstract(s)
foram utilizadas as versões portuguesas da Passion Scale (PS), Satisfaction with Life
Scale (SWLS), Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS) e Behavioral Regulation in Sport
Questionnaire (BRSQ).
(SV) e a felicidade geral (FG).
bodyboard.
The main objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the kind of passion (harmonious or obsessive), regulation of motivation (more or less selfdetermined), the general happiness and life satisfaction in practicing surfing and bodyboarding. 304 subjects participated in this study ( n = 304 ) of both sexes ( 247 male , 57 female ) aged between 18 and 47 ( M = 27.3 , SD = 7.6 ) , of which 205 are surfers and 99 bodyboard . As instruments for measuring the Portuguese versions of the Passion Scale ( PS ) , Satisfaction with Life Scale ( SWLS ) , Subjective Happiness Scale ( SHS ) and Behavioral Regulation in Sport Questionnaire ( BRSQ ) were used . In descriptive terms, the results seem to indicate that the subjects in our sample have feelings of harmonious passion (HP) higher than obsessive passion (OP), as well as regulate their motivation levels for more autonomous. The results also indicate that harmonious passion variable correlates positively and significantly with the relative autonomy index (RAI) and the two indicators of overall well -being, namely life satisfaction (SV) and happiness (FG). The results also showed that subjects who engage in the sport competitively, have higher feelings of obsessive passion in relation to practitioners leisure. As regards the subjective well-being, it was found that surfers have higher levels of VS in relation to practitioners bodyboard. In sum, these results suggest that when practitioners develop a harmonious passion for the sport they practice, regulate their behavior for more autonomous levels and this experience allows higher levels of well -being, this fact enhanced when the sport is performed non-competitively. Moreover, surfing appears to promote higher levels of well-being as compared to the practice of bodyboard.
