Abstract(s)
This research was carried out as part of the Supervised Teaching Practice of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education and Teaching of Primary Education at the School of Education of Santarém. During the curricular internships, a study was carried out on the subject of "The influence of illustrations on text comprehension in Pre-school education and Primary education", based on the importance of illustrations in text comprehension. The research was based on an action research methodology with the following central question: How do illustrations contribute to text comprehension in the early years of schooling? After processing and analyzing the data collected, the results highlighted two important aspects regarding the relevance of illustrations for textual understanding: texts with a more thematic plot are understood with greater difficulty when not accompanied by illustrations; texts of a more figurative nature are understood by the subjects of this study without the presence of the respective illustrations.
