Abstract(s)
A investigação é quantitativa, analítica, transversal, numa lógica descritivo-correlacional.
institucionais/situacionais e a escala RBTKQ.
Introduction: Blood transfusion and its components is a frequent therapeutic approach in the treatment of diseases or conditions that require their replacement. The procedure involves biological products; thus, it is not immune to risks and potential errors. It is up to hospital management to find mitigation strategies. Aims: Errors and potential risks associated with the transfusion process in the nursing intervention area are analysed, specifically: enumerating types of errors, validating the RBTKQ scale, and evaluating nurses' knowledge in the care provided to transfused patients. Methodologies: The RBTKQ scale was constructed and validated based on a questionnaire by Hijji et al. (2012). The research is quantitative, identify, cross-sectional, following a descriptive-correlational logic. A simple random sample of 148 nurses from the Portuguese territory was studied. Data collection involved a questionnaire with sociodemographic and institutional/situational variables, as well as the RBTKQ scale. A Scoping Review on errors in the hospital transfusion process was conducted. Conclusions: The RBTKQ scale proved to be appropriate for the evaluated criteria. Participants demonstrated a moderate level of knowledge (61.57%) in the various dimensions analysed, showing the ability to manage risks associated with the transfusion process. The implementation of institutional policies related to transfusion positively influences their knowledge. The reported errors are prevalent throughout the hospital transfusion process and consistent with international studies and Portugal.
