Abstract(s)
Within the scope of the master's degree in Social Education and Community Intervention and driven by the interest aroused in the use of cultural manifestations in the context of new social movements, we dedicated ourselves to a research subject to the theme because we consider its relevance in contemporary times. For this purpose, we developed a case study on the use of knitting and crochet in an activist campaign. The Red Line Campaign was our object of analysis, having during the year of 2019, followed the actions by the project organized to know the mission, motivations, strategies, target audience, partners and impacts of its dynamics together with the citizens. For research purposes, we applied a methodology based on the qualitative approach, in two complementary modalities, opting for the ethnographic perspective by developing direct and participant observation, with a record in the field diary, of events that occurred throughout the year of 2019, and we also conducted three semi-structured interviews with key elements involved in the Red Line Campaign. The investigation allowed us to know different types of citizen participation, the relationships between activist groups and the relevance of cross-border networks in globalized struggles. We also attended to the versatility and adaptive capacities of socio-educational interventions in a panorama of diverse weaknesses, seeking to contribute to the understanding of the context of contemporary social intervention and to design possible guidelines for future dynamics.
