Abstract(s)
The development of this report aims to present a critical analysis of the course developed during stage IV. The theoretical reference that guided my care was that of Kristen Swanson (1991). Based on an evidence-based practice, a scoping review was carried out, according to the methodology advocated by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI®), which provided an answer to the question: “How does a Nurse Specialist in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing Promote Contact? Skin-to-Skin in the Newborn's First Hour of Life?” The results obtained through the Scoping Review made the influence of Skin-to-Skin Contact more obvious, both for the mother and for the newborn, as well as the importance of the role of the specialist nurse in midwife as a promoter of this practice. The promotion of this practice is a guarantee of its inclusion and appreciation in the care provided to the dyad after birth.
