- Quality of life of nurses in work context: a scoping review.Publication . Figueiredo, Maria do Carmo (preferencial); Silva, Mário Ribeiro da; Rosa, Marta; Amendoeira, JoséScientific evidence emphasizes that the quality of care provided by nurses is influenced by several factors, such as interaction in the professional environment, remuneration, recognition, and appreciation of the function performed, in addition to factors such as health, leisure and affection that are directly related to the quality of life. The professional practice of nurses requires highly complex interventions and close human relationships, dealing with all types of emotions, including death. Considering nurses as a fundamental element in health organisations, there is a need to analyze their quality of life and challenge managers' reflection on the importance of nursing to develop strategies that favour quality of life. Objective: to map the scientific evidence on the quality of life of nurses in the work context. Methods: A Scoping Review based on the Joanna Briggs Institute (2020) with the question: What is the quality of life of nurses in the work context? The MeSH (2023) descriptors combined the search strategy: Quality of life AND Nurses* AND Work, according to Participants, Concept, and Context. Em-base data sources: EBSCOhost platform: CINAHL®, MedicLatina and MEDLINE, with defined limits: Full text and abstract available; Any type of study: (quantitative, qualitative, mixed); Language: English, Spanish and Portuguese. Results: In the eight articles selected, nurses have a lower quality of life due to a moderate level of happiness and negative feelings in providing care, high workload, ineffective management policies, unfair remuneration, scarcity of equipment and few opportunities for career development. After Covid-19, high levels of compassion satisfaction and moderate levels of burnout were found. Nurses who work rotating shifts are more likely to be overweight and have total and abdominal fat. Organizations can promote nurses' health by ensuring their participation in decision-making and promoting positive strategies to improve teamwork and establishing a support system for these professionals.
