Abstract(s)
According to the World Health Organization, WHO (2018), one of the interventions to be used judiciously is episiotomy, recommending an episiotomy rate of no more than 10%. In Portugal, the rate of episiotomies exceeds 70%, confirming that it is a routine practice in Portuguese hospitals (WHO, 2018). A Scoping Review was carried out, according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and based on the question “Which nurse specialist in maternal and obstetric health interventions prevent the performance of episiotomy in nulliparous women in labor?”. From the research carried out through the EBSCOhost and PubMed database platforms, four articles were selected with the most relevant results for the review question. After a reflective analysis of the answers obtained, the results intend to contribute to the practice of the nurse specialist in maternal and obstetric health, in the prevention of episiotomy, based on the best scientific evidence.
