Abstract(s)
O objetivo principal do estudo é investigar a relação entre o exercício físico e o bemestar, nomeadamente a satisfação com a vida e a felicidade dos praticantes. Pretende-se
verificar se o exercício físico aumenta o grau de satisfação com a vida e a felicidade dos
praticantes de exercício, relacionando o tipo de atividade praticada e a frequência de
prática.
Para tal, foram selecionados 58 indivíduos (N=58), de ambos os géneros (masculinos:26
femininos:32) com uma média de idades entre 46,33 (entre os 21 e os 75 anos de idade).
O instrumento utilizado para avaliar a satisfação com a vida dos indivíduos foi a versão
portuguesa traduzida e validade por Neto (1993) da Satisfaction With Life Scale
(SWLS: Diener, Emmons, Larson, & Griffin, 1985).
Para analisar a Felicidade Geral dos participantes utilizou- se a versão portuguesa
traduzida por Esteves da Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS: Lyubomirsky & Lepper,
1999).
Os principais resultados do estudo indicaram que a frequência semanal de prática de
exercício influencia os níveis gerais de satisfação com a vida, isto é, quanto maior for a
frequência de prática de exercício tanto maior serão os níveis gerais de satisfação de
vida.
The main purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between physical exercise and well-being, particularly life satisfaction and happiness felt by those who practice. This study intended to verify that physical exercise increases the degree of life satisfaction and happiness of practicing exercise, listing the type and frequency of activity practiced. Fifty eight individuals (N=58) of both genders (masculine = 26 and feminine = 32) with an average of 46.33 (ages between 21 and 75 years old) were selected for this study. The tool used evaluate life satisfaction of individuals was the English version translated and validated by Neto (1993) – the Satisfaction with life Scale (SWLS: Diener, Emmons, Larson, Griffin, 1985). To analyze the General Happiness of the participants, we used the Portuguese version translated by Esteves – Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS: Lyubomirsky & Lepper, 1999). The main results of the study indicated that weekly frequency of exercise training affects overall levels of Satisfaction with Life, ie, the higher the frequency of exercise training, the higher will be overall levels of life satisfaction.
