Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho foi realizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Educação Social e Intervenção Comunitária, da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Santarém. Tem como tema “Associação Ajuda de Mãe: Ações que transformam vidas” e analisa o papel desta associação como rede de apoio a mulheres grávidas e mães em situação de vulnerabilidade. A Associação Ajuda de Mãe é uma Associação de Solidariedade Social com estatuto de utilidade pública que desenvolve diversos trabalhos no âmbito social e presta apoio a famílias socialmente desfavorecidas. As mães e seus bebês são acolhidos e acompanhados por uma equipa multidisciplinar e por voluntários. Este acompanhamento vai além do apoio material e econômico prestado pela associação, compreendendo também a dimensão laboral e formativa. A abordagem metodológica da pesquisa é qualitativa, com base no estudo de caso do Gabinete da Ajuda de Mãe de Santarém (GAMS), com a interseção de várias técnicas, desde a análise documental de relatórios da associação à observação participante e realização de entrevistas com as mães que frequentam ou frequentaram GAMS e o projeto de empreendedorismo social ReUse by Ajuda de Mãe, nomeadamente o ateliê de costura. Essas entrevistas são narrativas de vida das mulheres acompanhadas pela associação, relatando as suas experiências e vivências da gravidez e maternidade em situação de vulnerabilidade e o impacto que o apoio institucional prestado pelo GAMS teve nas suas vivências da maternidade.
This work was carried out as part of the Master's programme in Social Education and Community Intervention at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém. Its theme is ‘Associação Ajuda de Mãe: Ações que transformam vidas’ and it analyses the role of this association as a support network for pregnant women and mothers in vulnerable situations. The Ajuda de Mãe Association is a Social Solidarity Association with public utility status that carries out various social projects and provides support to socially disadvantaged families. Mums and their babies are welcomed and accompanied by a multidisciplinary team and volunteers. This support goes beyond the material and economic support provided by the association and also includes labour and training. The methodological approach of the research is qualitative, based on the case study of the Gabinete da Ajuda de Mãe de Santarém (GAMS), with the intersection of various techniques, from documentary analysis of the association’s reports to participant observation and interviews with mothers who attend or have attended GAMS and the social entrepreneurship project ReUse by Ajuda de Mãe, namely the sewing studio. These interviews are narratives of the lives of the women who are accompanied by the association, recounting their experiences of pregnancy in a situation of vulnerability and the impact that the institutional support provided by GAMS has had on their experiences of motherhood.
