Abstract(s)
In recent years, digital health, or e-health, has played an increasingly important role in healthcare provision, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. For patients undergoing bariatric surgery, whose post-surgical follow-up is crucial to the success of the procedure, the use of e-health technologies has become an indispensable tool. In this context, e-health monitoring offers an innovative and safe solution to ensure that these users receive the necessary support and care, even in the face of social distancing restrictions and difficulties in accessing face-to-face health services. ehealth can provide a number of benefits, including greater user involvement, better access to care and improved communication between users and healthcare providers. This dissertation aims to assess how telemedicine is used throughout the bariatric surgery process and how it can influence the results of this surgical treatment for obesity. This dissertation will highlight the importance of e-health technologies in the management of surgical treatment for obesity, as well as their benefits in monitoring during the COVID-19 pandemic, exploring the advantages of this approach and the challenges that need to be overcome to ensure its success. It is organized in two studies, the first being a literature review and the second a crosssectional observational study, which allowed us to understand how telemedicine can help in the treatment of these patients.
