Abstract(s)
Assinalou-se pela primeira vez a presenƧa de Argas (A.) reflexus reflexus em Portugal, muito embora a sua existĆŖncia no paĆs tivesse sido jĆ” sugerida. A sua confirmaĆ§Ć£o realizou-se em exemplares provenientes de frescos nas paredes prĆ³ximas de ninhos de pombos e de um lanternim de madeira antiga com um ninho de pardal, recolhidos por investigadores que procediam ao restauro daquelas obras de arte sacra.O registo deste parasita preferencial de aves foi verificado no norte (BravĆ£es) e no centro (Serra da ArrĆ”bida) de Portugal, o que permite pensar que a distribuiĆ§Ć£o desta subespĆ©cie no paĆs seja mais vasta. A associaĆ§Ć£o deste argasĆdeo a patologias nos seus hospedeiros Ć© desconhecida em territĆ³rio portuguĆŖs.The presence of Argas (A.) reflexus reflexus was registered in Portugal for the first time, although its existence had already been suggested. Its identification was performed in specimens obtained in frescos near pigeons nests and in ancient wood clerestory with a sparrow nest, collected by researchers who were restoring those religious pieces of art.
The presence of this preferential bird-parasite, was observed in the north (BravĆ£es) and in the centre (Serra da ArrĆ”bida) of Portugal, suggesting that its geographical distribution in the country will be more extensive. The relationship of this argasid with the pathologies of their hosts is unknown in Portugal.
