- Variabilidade da frequência cardíaca e dificuldade de uma tarefa de equilíbrio dinâmico em crianças de 12-13 anos de idadePublication . Catela, David; Mercê, Cristiana; Pereira, Pedro; Luís, Marta; Lourenço, Margarida; Bernardo, João; Lopes, Fernando; Serrão-Arrais, AnaIn children, heart rate is directly associated with difficulty in dynamic balance. Objective: To analyze heart rate variability (HRV) as a function of the difficulty of dynamic balance. Sample: 15 children (♀= 8; age- 12,33±0,47 years old). Method: Walking in beams forward (F), idem without seeing (FF), backwards (T) and idem without seeing (TF), procedures as(1). Estimation of time interval between beats (IRR), obtained with Polar V800, of parameters SD1 (short duration HRV) and SD2 (long duration HRV) of the Poincaré graph, using the gHRV program, and of S, as total HRV. Results: Significant difference in execution time (TE) between all conditions, except between FF and T. Sequence F-FF-T-TF with superior SD1 and SD2 (ns). TF with significant inverse association between TE and SD1, SD2, and mean IRR. In girls, S was significantly lower in F, FF and T; and, TE in TF. Discussion: Evolving from easy (F) to difficult (TF) provided parasympathetic stability. Girls show greater sympathetic activation, possibly due to a lower perceived motor competence. The reduction in HRV associated with the increase in TE confirms sympathetic activation with increased difficulty in dynamic balance, which can be compensated with progressive ordering of task difficulty.
