Abstract(s)
This study was carried in the Master in Pre-School Education and includes two distinct parts: the first presents the three internships carried out during the course and the second, the research work. In the internships part, the characterization and analysis of the pedagogical practice in the different contexts is made, considering the path taken and presenting the main learning and interventions. This investigation had a general objective to know the conceptions of fathers and mothers about the various specificities of preschool sleep and the routines and sleep habits practiced by these families. For this, a qualitative study was conducted through interviews with a sample of 10 individuals whose children are between 3 and 4 years old. According to Brazelton (2004), quality sleep and sleeping the recommended number of hours, on a regular basis, is associated with better health outcomes, namely in terms of attention, behavior, learning, memory, emotional regulation, quality of life and mental and physical health. Sleep is, therefore, something very complex that serves to reorganize all our functions and ensure our physical and psychic recovery. The alternation between wakefulness and sleep is a fundamental rhythm of the human species, assuming particular importance during childhood. This study aimed to gather important information on the sleeping topic, as well as the practices used by several families, and it was concluded that the interviewed parents are informed and claim to seek information when doubts arise, however it is primordial ro promote suggestions for the practice of sleep routine with families, given the importance that sleep routine has in the learning and development process of children.
