Abstract(s)
Recognizing the high dropout rate of students in the Integrated Technical Craft Course of the National Program for the Integration of Vocational Education with Basic Education in the Youth and Adult Education Modality (Proeja) in a Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology, this study, seeking an intervention plan, aimed to analyzing the actions taken by the coordinators of the teaching area to promote the permanence of the students in the course. Thus, we sought to define profile of students enrolled in the course, identify the actions promoted by the various coordinations seeking to evaluate those that most favor the permanence of students in the course. At the same time, suggestions were collected for improving student service. Data collection was qualitative (document analysis and semi-structured interview). The research results show that each coordination develops a specific action to support students involving diverse talks that are completed through classroom activities, considering the whole educational process. Although the coordinations recognize that the actions developed contribute to the students' permanence, we identified some gaps, problems and difficulties pointed out by the interviewees were related to logistic and structural organization as well as an articulation among all sectors involved. Based on the limitations identified, the present study proposes an action plan, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to unify the methodologies to be developed for improving student service.
